Ayano Kawasaki (Forum Operations Co-chair) Ayano taught English at Tokyo Metropolitan public high school for 5 years. Ayano loved her teaching job so much; however, at the same time, she was frustrated with the Japanese traditional way of teaching based on grammar translation and always thought that she had to make a change. Then, she obtained a TEFL certificate in University of California, Irvine, but the experience made her think that she should learn more. Therefore, Ayano decided to quit her job and come to TC to acquire foundational knowledge of Second Language Acquisition and effective teaching methodologies. Ayano’s motto is to take as many opportunities as possible in order to enhance her academic life and improve her teaching skills in TC. While currently working as a forum chair, she actively participates in educational conferences as a presenter. She has a strong passion to help students who would love to learn English. At the same time, she herself is a life-long learner who keeps polishing English teaching skills to be a role model for students. She is also a Fulbright scholar and has a clear mission to establish mutual understandings and peaceful relationships between the US and Japan. In her free time, she plays the piano and the oboe. She currently belongs to a NYC community orchestra. |
