Eunae Kim (Co-chair) Eunae is a second year M.A. student in Applied Linguistics. Before TC, she taught EFL in South Korea and ESL in Australia and Canada. Her research interests are broad, but include conversation analysis, code-switching, and language assessment. She loves coffee, bubble tea, doing her nails, traveling, and trying new foods. |
Amy Olson (Co-chair) Amy Olson is a second year M.A. student in the TESOL K-12 program. She has taught ESL and EFL in a variety of contexts, including working with adult immigrant students in Boston, preschoolers in Spain, and refugee youth in the Occupied Palestinian Territories. When she is not teaching or studying (which is most of the time), she enjoys singing opera, long-distance running, and eating peanut butter. |
Caitlin Wang (Social co-chair) Caitlin Wang is a second year M.A. student in TESOL K-12 Initial Certification track. Before coming to Teachers College, she was inspired to study TESOL during her study abroad at Japan in college. While in Japan, she worked informally with Japanese college students in practicing their English language skills. Her interests include sociolinguistics, phonetics and phonology, second language acquisition, and content-language approaches in K-12 settings. Aside from her academic interests, in her free time, she also enjoys activities such as scrapbooking, singing, learning additional foreign languages (she is currently working on French, Korean, and German), and martial arts (taekwondo). |
Ji (Angie) Wang (Social co-chair) Angie is a second year MA TESOL-General student and also a graduate of the TCSOL Certificate Program. Before coming to TC, she has taught EFL and Chinese as a Second Language (CSL) in Beijing, China for three years. Her research interests include classroom discourse analysis, second language acquisition, multilingualism and pedagogy. In her free time, she loves playing the piano and going to the concerts. She also enjoys exploring various museums in NYC, trying new foods, riding roller coasters and flying helicopters. |
Hyejin Rhee (Roundtable co-chair) Hyejin is a second year MA TESOL student in the K-12 track. Before coming to TC, she taught English in Florida for two years, working with high school and middle school international students. In between teaching and studying, she enjoys watching Broadway musicals and exploring NYC's museums. |
Wen (Elyssa) Sun (Research co-chair) Wen Sun is a second year M.A. TESOL student. Before coming to TC, she spent a year teaching EFL in several Chinese elementary schools, middle schools and language institutes. Her research interests lie in Conversation Analysis, Phonetics and sociolinguistics. Wen is a foodaholic. In her leisure time, she loves watching movies, learning languages and traveling (mostly to enjoy various architecture and fooooooood LOL). |
Onsutee W. Sudwan (Research co-chair) Onsutee Wattanapruck Sudwan is an EdM student in Applied Linguistics. She was a lecturer in Thailand for over 5 years before coming to TC. She is passionate about online teaching on social media platforms including Facebook and YouTube. Her current research interests include talk-in-interactions between teacher and student both online and offline. |
Caroline Ward (Finance co-chair) Caroline, a native of Houston, Texas, is student of the MA of Applied Linguistics program, and currently leads an English class for international students wanting to improve their English. Previous teaching experiences in China and Korea have molded her pedagogical perspective, and spurred a fascination with the vast continent of Asia. Aside from learning and educating, Caroline travels to many exciting countries that are off the beaten path, and exploring the facets and ins and outs of other cultures. |
Clara Basyurt (Finance co-chair) Clara is a second year M.A student in the TESOL, K-12 track. Prior to coming to TC, she spent several years teaching English to children and adolescents in Turkey. Her research interests include sociolinguistics and first language attrition. In her free time, Clara enjoys reading, watching documentaries, eating sushi, drinking coffee and doing arts and crafts. |
Eliza Desind (Publicity co-chair) Eliza is a second year MA, TESOL K-12 student. She has taught English in Spain and literacy skills in NJ. Most recently she taught EFL in China, spreading her love of PB&J to 400 Chinese undergrads. Her interests include creating fun and meaningful language learning environments and Multi-language learner educational policy reform. She also loves exploring the world through food, literature, and performance art. |
Yulin Liu (Publicity co-chair) Yulin is a second year M.A. candidate in Applied Linguistics at TC. She graduated from UC San Diego with a major in Psychology and minor in Theatre. She hopes to use her knowledge from various fields to become an effective communicator, coordinator, and educator. Yulin enjoys learning languages, traveling, writing food reviews, and following American TV series. |
